Testing capacity expands amid a severe outbreak
As of August 12, WHO figures indicate that the Democratic Republic of the Congo reported 4,665 confirmed cases and 2,184 deaths. Infections have been identified across 54 health zones in six provinces, which include Ituri, North Kivu, South Kivu, Haut-Uélé, Tshopo, and Bas-Uélé. WHO characterized this epidemic as the largest Ebola outbreak recorded in the country.
