CAIRO, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Remittances from Egyptians working abroad totaled approximately $29.7 billion between January and July 2026. The Central Bank of Egypt reported that this figure increased by 28.1% compared to about $23.2 billion during the same period last year. The seven-month rise contributed roughly $6.5 billion more than in the first seven months of 2025. These figures encompass money sent home by Egyptians employed internationally. The rise in remittances from January to July follows the record level achieved in the entire calendar year of 2025.

In July alone, remittances reached around $4.5 billion, a 20% increase from about $3.8 billion in July 2025. Earlier months also showed year-on-year growth. January saw inflows of about $3.5 billion, up from $2.9 billion a year earlier. February’s remittances climbed to roughly $3.8 billion from $3.0 billion in February 2025. The combined inflows for January and February amounted to approximately $7.3 billion, exceeding last year’s combined total for those two months by about $1.4 billion. This pattern of growth persisted throughout the first half of the year.
The broader fiscal-year data also indicates an upward trend in remittance inflows. Egypt received nearly $47.3 billion during fiscal 2025/2026, reflecting a 29.6% increase from $36.5 billion in the previous fiscal year. June 2026 alone accounted for about $4.2 billion, compared to $3.6 billion in June 2025, representing a 15.6% increase. The fiscal year extended from July 2025 to June 2026, while the latest seven-month figure covers January through July 2026. The overall dollar increase for the fiscal year was approximately $10.8 billion.
Remittance inflows trend upward across various reporting periods
Calendar-year data also highlights sustained growth in remittance inflows. In 2025, these inflows totaled roughly $41.5 billion, which is a 40.5% rise from about $29.6 billion in 2024, amounting to an increase of approximately $11.9 billion. During the first half of fiscal 2025/2026, the inflows reached about $22.1 billion, compared to $17.1 billion during the same period the previous year, indicating a 29.6% increase.
December 2025 saw a monthly record of roughly $4.0 billion, up 24% from $3.2 billion in December 2024. By January 2026, cumulative fiscal-year remittances had reached $25.6 billion, surpassing the $20.0 billion recorded in the same period of the prior fiscal year. The Central Bank of Egypt reported approximately $29.4 billion through February, marking a 28% increase from around $23.0 billion during the same eight months. December’s year-on-year growth was approximately $800 million.
Spring data continues to reflect remittance growth
Throughout spring, the total remittance inflows maintained their upward trajectory. Remittances from July through March of fiscal 2025/2026 reached about $34.9 billion, a 32% increase compared to the $26.4 billion reported for the same period in the previous year. By April, the total had climbed to around $39.2 billion, representing a 33.2% rise from $29.4 billion. April alone generated approximately $4.3 billion, compared with $3.0 billion in April 2025, marking a 44% month-over-month growth or about $1.3 billion.
By May, fiscal-year remittances had reached roughly $43.1 billion, a 31.2% increase from $32.8 billion a year earlier. May inflows totaled about $3.9 billion, up from approximately $3.4 billion in May 2025. The cumulative increase over 11 months was about $10.3 billion. The fiscal year closed at $47.3 billion after June, and July’s figures pushed the 2026 calendar-year total to $29.7 billion. All recent comparisons—monthly, calendar-year, and fiscal-year—remain above their respective levels from the previous year.
